Must possess a bachelors degree in one of the behavioral or social sciences.
The ability to demonstrate excellent behavior management skills and possess experience using those skills with high risk, disruptive students. Experience working in an "Alternative School" is a plus.
Must have the ability to work cooperatively with staff in all job categories in the school setting.
Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work as a member of a team.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and have the capability to generate behavioral reports and summaries on behalf of the students in a timely manner.
Possess the ability to communicate with parents via telephone and/or home visits as often as needed.
Possess the ability to balance empathy and high expectations for appropriate academic and behavioral success.
Description:
Develop, maintain and disseminate accurate daily and weekly behavior reports on pro-social and negative behaviors.
Actively participate in the development of students behavioral goals and their modifications.
Adapt and learn a behavioral modification/mental health model.
Communicate weekly with parents via weekly progress reports, telephone call and/or home visits.
Develop through collaboration with the teacher and counselor, in-class strategies for assisting with student behavior and learning.
De-escalate and "time out" students, for the purpose of modifying the students' behavior and emotional needs so that they can return to the learning environment.
Provide the appropriate paperwork required by the "Positive Directions" Supervisor in a timely manner.
